THE IKN POST — Eva Noor: Fasting Simultaneously Cultivates Discipline and Enhances Work Ethic

One of the purposes of fasting is to cultivate piety. The term piety encompasses all the goodness we do. Performing daily tasks well is part of worship.

The holy month of Ramadan should be seized as an opportunity to continuously improve oneself, both in worship, maintaining relationships, integrity, honesty, and strong character.

All acts of worship are multiplied in reward and hold high value for engaging in activities that enhance good work productivity.

These positive characteristics are essential for shaping employees’ soft skills alongside their hard skills.

Thus, during the month-long fasting period, it is effective for fostering work ethic such as discipline, hard work, responsibility, honesty, independence, and caring for others, which fosters teamwork.

During Ramadan, individuals have the chance to purify themselves and improve their work image, both personally and collectively within the workplace team.

Ramadan is a month full of blessings, grace, and forgiveness. It is the perfect time to improve oneself, including enhancing work ethic and productivity.

“Fasting is not an excuse to refrain from activity. On the contrary, fasting should be a motivation to increase productivity and work ethic.”

“In fasting, we are required to restrain hunger, thirst, and desires, which undoubtedly require high levels of patience, perseverance, and discipline.”

“Therefore, for Muslims, it is essential to make the best use of time by organizing work schedules and daily activities more effectively,” said Eva Noor on April 7, 2024, CEO of PT Xynexis International, in her written statement during an iftar gathering with the team and work partners at Resto Gran Via Hotel Gran Melia Kuningan, South Jakarta.

The iftar event of PT Xynexis International group (Ignite, Noosc, Hax) also invited colleagues and work partners, with the main aim of maintaining social connections.

“Sometimes, work activities outside the office are frequent, and colleagues rarely meet, or the office locations are distant, and there are new employees,” said Eva Noor, who utilized the positive moments during the holy month of Ramadan to foster social connections while reviewing completed work with work partners and planning future tasks that can be undertaken together.

According to Eva, during the holy month of Ramadan, besides worship for those observing it, one should not be lazy in working because performing good work with good intentions is also part of the worship that must be fulfilled and achieved.

“With this favorable moment, we invite everyone to maintain productivity while reviewing primarily with work partners what has been and will be done in the future,” Eva revealed.

In the holy month of Ramadan, which coincides with the aftermath of the national election festivities, and as felt during the previous election, the atmosphere can be uncertain, and the business world may slow down. Now, it is imperative to maximize productivity.

“Increasing enthusiasm and focusing again on targets and work objectives to a more optimal level this fasting month and in the coming months,” Eva said.

Besides the iftar activities, the Xynexis group also conducted CSR activities before Eid by providing assistance to orphanages and, prior to Ramadan, from the proceeds of the sale of the book “Pelaku Bukan Pemimpi” written by Eva Noor.

The book was launched since February 2022 and was distributed to social attention in national education per semester, especially in elementary schools that require special attention by providing assistance in the form of gadgets to support students’ learning processes in one of the regions in Sulawesi.

“From the proceeds of book sales, Alhamdulillah, in line with my commitment at the beginning that the goal of writing the book was not only for business literacy and tips in the business world (entrepreneurship) but also various stages of business experience that are part of building a business for those who want to venture into business or become entrepreneurs,” Eva said, mentioning that in the future, Xynexis plans to continue social activities by regularly providing assistance to nursing homes, children’s foundations, and cancer foundations.

In addition to social activities, there is also a talent search program for talented IT students, specifically in the field of cybersecurity. The program was previously conducted a few years ago regarding talent search activities in cybersecurity (Born To Protect) that collaborated with several universities before the pandemic.

“The work program for talent search in cybersecurity, Xynexis will collaborate with various institutions, both government and private industry, as well as various universities, where the program will be conducted online in the future,” Eva said.

Meanwhile, Eva, who currently also serves as the chairperson of the IWCS (Indonesia Women Cyber Security) community, is involved in educating and socializing specifically to Indonesian women regarding cybersecurity. In April, she will continue activities aimed at women to pay more attention to cybersecurity in the digital world, beneficial for the wider community in cybersecurity.

Hopes for the new government will prioritize cybersecurity improvement and sustainability.

“Talking about risks certainly involves digital economy where the wider community is already highly dependent on the digital world and cyberspace. Moreover, Indonesia now has regulations in the Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP) established by the Jokowi administration.”

“Hence, the future hope for the new government is a higher level of attention and concern towards cybersecurity risks in protecting digital activities of the wider community,” Eva expressed.
