SHIMONOSEKI: Seven Indonesian citizens (WNI) were confirmed to have died in a South Korean tanker accident near Mutsure Island off the coast of Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi prefecture, West Japan.
According to reports from the local coast guard office, this tragic incident killed nine of the total 11 crew members. Another Indonesian citizen was rescued while the remaining crew member was still missing.
It is known that the first eight people on the Keoyong Sun ship were Indonesian citizens, 2 were from South Korea (South Korea), and another was from China.
The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported by Reuters, confirmed on Thursday (March 21) that two of its citizens were victims of an accident.
The tanker, loaded with 980 tons of acrylic acid, gave an emergency call to the Noji coast guard near the area on Wednesday (20 March) at around 07.00 local time.
The ship reportedly capsized due to high waves and strong winds. The ship was said to be out of anchor due to high waves and strong winds.
There were no reports of cargo spillage even though the ship capsized.
One of the dead victims who was identified was M Munir Agung Suhartono from Bangkalan, according to a report from Detiknews.
The victim’s family, including Nabila’s wife, have received the sad news and are now waiting for the arrival of the victim’s body.
Nabila said that her husband had gone sailing to Japan since the beginning of the fasting month.
