TheIKNPost.com โ Five people who were reported as PPK Pebayuran in Bawaslu, Bekasi Regency, continued with two people who were reported as legislative candidates for the West Java Province DPRD election 9, which became public attention. When the report letter to Bawaslu of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta accompanied by attached evidence and chronology circulated in the national mass media.
The news had gone viral. It had become public attention, what had recently happened in several areas, including Bekasi Regency, West Java.
On Tuesday (5/3/2024) evening, the atmosphere at the Harper Cikarang Hotel, especially in the district level recapitulation plenary room, was filled with dozens of supporters of Legislative Candidates (Caleg) from various political parties.
This incident began with demands from the masses of supporters of the Golkar Party legislative candidates who asked that the ongoing plenary session be stopped.
The mass of supporters of the legislative candidate revealed indications of fraud committed by the District Election Committee (PPK) when holding a recapitulation plenary at the sub-district level, especially in Pebayuran District.
Not only in Pebayuran District, suspicion of the recapitulation plenary process also spread to the North Cikarang area. The legislative election is for the West Java provincial DPRD, Bekasi District West Java Electoral District 9.
Volunteer supporters of legislative candidates from various parties, including legislative candidates from Gerindra, were angry because they felt there was fraud involving PPK Pebayuran.
They were even willing to go to the Bekasi Regency Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) office to report indications of fraud.
The indications of fraud mentioned by these parties came from significant changes in the votes obtained by legislative candidates and parties within the party.
Evidence of fraud allegedly deliberately carried out by election organizers, such as changing votes from form C1 to form D results, was the main focus in the report submitted to Bawaslu.
The Coordinator of the Violation Handling Division and Datin Bawaslu for Bekasi Regency, Khoirudin, confirmed that there were reports from the mass of supporters of Legislative Candidate Gerindra regarding indications of fraud.
However, the review process is still ongoing to determine whether the report meets the formal and material requirements to be used as a basis for opening a case.
Responding to this situation, the West Java Academic Election and Democracy (APD) Coordinator, Zaki Hilmi, suggested that all parties who feel disadvantaged can report suspected violations to the Bekasi Regency Bawaslu.
This is in accordance with Bawaslu Regulation Number 7 of 2022 which authorizes Indonesian citizens (WNI) who have the right to vote, election participants or election observers to report suspected violations.
Furthermore, Zaki Hilmi emphasized the importance of Bawaslu’s role in handling reports of alleged election violations, especially regarding changes and shifts in votes between legislative candidates within the party.
Even through existing mechanisms, such as handling administrative violations quickly, Bawaslu has the authority to recommend that the General Election Commission (KPU) re-examine the recapitulation data.
Cases like this pose serious challenges to the integrity and transparency of the democratic process in Indonesia.
The public is also expected to remain vigilant and active in monitoring the course of the general election process, as well as ensuring that the people’s voice is truly reflected fairly and honestly in the final election results.
