SINGAPORE: Shocking news comes from the world of South Korean entertainment. South Korean actors Han So-hee and Ryu Jun-yeol broke up, even though they only announced their relationship to the public two weeks ago.
Han’s agency, 9ATO Entertainment, as reported by South Korean media EDaily on Saturday (30/3) said: “Both of them feel their roles as actors are more important. They promised to no longer get involved in each other’s personal lives.”
They added that Han apologized for this situation and would accept any criticism directed at him.
“Above all, the agency is very responsible for not taking care of its actors. The agency reflects on its failure to carry out its role properly. Even though it is very late, we will do the right thing from now on,” said 9ATO Entertainment.
Meanwhile, Ryu’s agency, C-JeS Entertainment confirmed the breakup, and added: “We ask for your understanding, because there is nothing else we can say other than confirming this breakup.”
The relationship between the two became public knowledge after Han announced it on his personal blog on March 16. Meanwhile, Ryu was represented by his agency in making the announcement.
The announcement came a day after the agency denied rumors of the two dating. This rumor emerged after the couple was reportedly seen on holiday together in Hawaii.
Netizens accused them of being in a “runaway relationship” because Ryu had just broken up in November 2023 from his girlfriend of seven years, singer and actress, Hyeri.
Ryu and Han are reportedly reviewing the lead roles in the drama series Delusion, which is adapted from the webtoon of the same title. This horror genre drama tells the story of an artist who is assigned to paint a portrait of a mysterious woman at the hotel where he is staying.
Han recently starred in the Netflix thriller series Gyeongseong Creature. Apart from that, he is also known for his roles in The World Of The Married, Nevertheless and My Name.
Ryu was named Best Actor for his role as a blind royal acupuncturist in the mystery drama The Night Owl at the Baeksang Arts Awards in April 2023. In addition, he also starred in the K-drama Reply 1988, which also starred Hyeri.
