Running until April 14, 2025, this exhibition offers art enthusiasts a profound journey into the lifelong dedication of an artist who has devoted himself entirely to the world of visual arts.
MasDibyo, widely recognized as a village painter deeply committed to his creative process, continues to present inspiring works, both in Indonesia and internationally.
For him, solo exhibitions represent stepping stones in an endless artistic journey. “Each solo exhibition is a step in my ongoing journey,” said MasDibyo, who is also known for his unique approach of ‘busking’ with his paintings across various regions in East Java.
With unwavering determination and resilience, MasDibyo consistently strives to create artworks that evoke deep emotions and stimulate the thoughts of his audience.
Behind every brushstroke lies a meaningful story, filled with social critique and reflections on life that flow naturally through his art.
More than just a display of art, “Golden Steps” serves as a celebration of an artist’s journey—one that has persevered and thrived despite numerous challenges.
Visitors will discover a variety of symbolic elements that have become hallmarks of MasDibyo’s work, including the golden pig, the horse symbolizing freedom, the rooster representing courage, the vibrant flamboyant tree, the loyal Dalmatian dog, and the graceful cat that frequently appears in his paintings.
Additionally, the exhibition showcases the captivating beauty of women who have inspired MasDibyo throughout his artistic career.
The opening event was a lively affair, attended by friends, art collectors, and fellow artists who deeply appreciate MasDibyo’s dedication to the craft.
The exhibition was officially inaugurated by Herman Herry, a businessman, former member of the Indonesian Parliament (DPR RI), and a long-time art collector of MasDibyo’s works.
“MasDibyo is an artist who has demonstrated extraordinary talent, perseverance, and idealism in his painting,” stated Herman.
While he humbly admits he is not an art expert, Herman greatly values MasDibyo’s works for their ability to capture socio-political issues, critique current conditions, and evoke profound emotional moments.
“I purchase MasDibyo’s paintings because I know the artist personally. He is someone who never runs out of ideas,” added Herman, who proudly displays MasDibyo’s paintings in his offices and hotels across Jakarta, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and Bali.
Herman also highlighted the painter’s strong sense of dignity, integrity, and unwavering artistic spirit. “MasDibyo is a remarkable artist—he has pride and integrity in his work,” he emphasized.
“Golden Steps” marks a milestone in the journey of an artist who has exhibited extraordinary talent in visual arts since childhood.
