“Indonesia urges the UN Security Council to act immediately to reduce tensions and continue efforts to create peace in the Middle East,” the ANTARA news agency cited the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs via social media X on Sunday evening.

RI also asked the UN Security Council to immediately stop the illegal occupation of Palestine and various violations of international law by Israel.

According to ANTARA, in this case, Indonesia reiterates that a fair resolution of the Palestinian problem through a two-state solution will be the key to creating regional security stability.

The latest hostility between Iran and Israel was triggered by the attack on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus, Syria, on April 1.

The attack killed at least seven members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including two top generals. Iran accused Israel of responsibility for the fatal attack.

Iran then launched a retaliatory attack by firing dozens of ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones at Israel on Saturday night (April 13).

The attack, according to Israel, was foiled and only hit a military air base in Israel – but did not cause serious damage.

At Israel’s request after being attacked by Iran, the UNSC will immediately hold a meeting on Sunday afternoon local time.

Israel urges the UN to openly condemn Iran’s response to Tel Aviv’s aggression, even though for the last six months since the start of the war in Gaza, Israel has strongly criticized and ignored the UN.
