JAKARTA: The Golkar and Gerindra parties have nominated the former Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, to compete in the 2024 Jakarta Regional Head Election (Pilkada).
“Golkar and Gerindra have recommended Ridwan Kamil,” said the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, to Kompas.com at the Golkar DPP Office, Palmerah, West Jakarta, Wednesday (10 April).
Airlangga emphasized that Kang Emil, Ridwan Kamil’s nickname, had received official support from both parties.
Ridwan Kamil is also still being considered by a number of political parties to run for a second term as Governor of West Java.
However, Ridwan Kamil is not the only name being favored by the Banyan Party.
The party, which is synonymous with the color yellow, also assigned two other names to compete in the DKI Jakarta Pilkada, namely the Chairman of the DPD Golkar Party DKI Jakarta, who is also the Regent of Tangerang, Ahmed Zaki Iskandar, and an elected member of the DPR and Deputy General Chair of the Golkar Party for Strategic Gathering of the DPP Golkar Party, Erwin Aksa.
Until now, only Ahmed Zaki has received a written mandate from the Golkar Party, as reported by Vivanews.
Airlangga said Erwin Aksa had not received an official mandate, even though he had put up a billboard at Ratu Plaza.
The 2024 regional elections are planned to be held simultaneously in 545 regions, consisting of 37 provinces, 415 districts and 93 cities on November 27 2024.
