JAKARTA: National airline Garuda Indonesia announced the opening of a new international route connecting Jakarta with Doha, Qatar starting Thursday (4 April).
“The collaboration with Qatar Airways is a concrete manifestation of our efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Qatar and Indonesia which have been well established for more than five decades,” said Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfaniaputra in a release to Antara.
This flight route will be operated using a B777 – 300ER aircraft which has a capacity of more than 300 passengers.
Flight number GA900 is scheduled to depart from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 18.20 WIB and arrive at Hamad Doha International Airport at 23.00 local time
Meanwhile, the Doha-Jakarta flight with number GA901 will depart from Hamad Doha International Airport at 02.25 local time and arrive at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 15.00 WIB.
Irfan added that the opening of this route also aims to accelerate national economic growth by attracting foreign tourists, especially from the Middle East.
“Doha is one of the main transit hubs for foreign tourists from the Middle East who also has connections to Europe and the United States,” he said.
Thus, this route is expected to make a positive contribution to the growth of the national tourism sector.
