JAKARTA: Presidential candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo, revealed that he had been offered the position of minister in the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka cabinet.
However, Ganjar did not specify the type of ministerial position offered or who offered it. This news is related to efforts to form a large coalition by political parties supporting the Prabowo-Gibran pair, as reported by Kompas.id.
In his statement, Ganjar expressed his gratitude to the parties who had submitted the offer.
However, he prefers to be outside the government as part of the opposition.
This is done to avoid concentration of power in just one institution.
According to him, it would be better if ministerial positions were given to coalition parties supporting Prabowo-Gibran, because that would be fairer considering that the number of supporting parties is quite large.
“I would like to say thank you, it would be better to give the winner the freedom to choose freely and it would be much better if the group that had supported them took priority, not me, it would not be fair.
If I was outside maybe it would be much better because checks and balances “It will definitely happen and there will be more great people in their respective groups, especially if we see so many teams or political parties supporting the candidate pairs, we definitely have hope,” said Ganjar in his statement to Detiknews, Tuesday (26 March).
Ganjar emphasized that after the Constitutional Court (MK) announces its decision regarding the dispute over the results of the general election (PHPU) for president and vice president on April 22, he will return to being an ordinary citizen.
Together with volunteers, he plans to carry out community activities related to political education, the environment, strengthening MSMEs, and empowering poor communities through education.
On this occasion, Ganjar also expressed his gratitude for the support and struggle that had been given during the recent political contestation.
