JAKARTA: The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) is preparing to hold an Isbat Session for 1 Syawal 1445 H on April 9 2024, next Tuesday to determine when Eid al-Fitr 2024 will be.
The trial will be held at the HM Auditorium. Rasjidi, Indonesian Ministry of Religion Office on Jalan MH. Thamrin, Jakarta.
The Director General of Islamic Community Guidance, Kamaruddin Amin, explained that the Isbat Session would be held behind closed doors.
The session will be attended by Commission VIII DPR RI, leaders of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), ambassadors from friendly countries, representatives from Islamic religious organizations, as well as the Hisab Rukyat Team from the Ministry of Religion.
“As in previous years, the Isbat Session at the beginning of Shawwal is always scheduled for the 29th of Ramadan. This time, it happens to coincide with the date of April 9 2024,” said Kamaruddin as released by the Ministry of Religion.
The Ministry of Religion will also monitor the new moon or rukyatulhilal in various provinces.
“For the Isbat Session at the beginning of Shawwal, the Ministry of Religion will send a team to 120 locations throughout Indonesia. The team will provide a report on whether the new moon is visible or not on that day,” he added.
The results of the reckoning and rukyatulhilal will be discussed and determined at the Isbat Session.
“The decision will be announced openly through a press conference,” concluded the Director General.
