JAKARTA: Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, said that the winning presidential candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) who is also the General Chair of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto, will meet with PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri in the near future.
Muzani revealed that both Gerindra and PDIP cadres wanted the two ketums to meet.
“I am sure that in the near future Mr. Prabowo and Mrs. Megawati will be able to meet because all parties also hope that the chairman will be able to meet,” said Muzani to Kompas.com, Tuesday (26 March) evening.
Muzani explained that Prabowo’s meeting with Megawati was just a matter of matching the timing.
Prabowo currently still has many agendas. On the other hand, Muzani heard that Megawati was also busy during the holy month of Ramadan.
Muzani emphasized that Gerindra was happy because PDIP gave a positive signal, where the party bearing the bull symbol had no burdens and problems with Gerindra.
According to him, Prabowo and Megawati also don’t have any problems
Muzani on a separate occasion did not believe that PDIP would become the opposition in the future Prabowo-Gibran government.
“PDIP is the opposition? Who says? If it turns out it’s not, what?” Muzani said to Vivanews, Wednesday (27 March).
Meanwhile, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto revealed that Prabowo and Megawati’s meeting might take place after the lawsuit regarding the results of the presidential election was decided by the Constitutional Court (MK) on April 22.
The political position of the PDIP is currently the biggest question considering that the party bearing the bull symbol is the winning party in the 2024 Legislative Election (Pileg) with the most seats in the People’s Representative Council (DPR).
Previously, senior PDIP official Sukur Nababan had given a signal that PDIP would become the opposition.
PDIP presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo, who lost at Prabowo’s hands, also recently said he had rejected Prabowo’s offer of a ministerial position and chose to become the opposition.
