SINGAPORE: Marina Bay Sands (MBS) confirmed that it will build a fourth tower and a 15,000-seat entertainment arena.
This expansion plan is targeted for completion no later than July 2029.
The construction process will begin in July 2025, MBS announced Friday (April 5).
This expansion includes the construction of a luxury hotel tower with a skylight, an entertainment arena, a larger MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, Exhibition) space, as well as new food outlets and entertainment centers.
MBS previously announced last January that it had received approval from the Urban Development Authority (URA) to build a fourth tower.
This fourth tower covers an area of 153,100 square meters for a hotel with a capacity of 587 rooms and 12,185 square meters for retail.
According to the plan, the location of the fourth tower is between the entertainment arena and the three existing towers.
This is different from the previous design which showed the fourth tower located right next to the three existing towers.
MBS said the expansion would play an “important role” in attracting more tourists to the land of the Lion.
Estimated to cost around 3.3 billion US dollars, plans to expand this integrated resort were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Completion of the development project which was initially targeted for 2025 has been postponed to 2026. This target has been postponed again to April 8 2028 and most recently July 2029.
MBS opened in 2010 and employs more than 11,500 people.
