TheIKNPost.com – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) together with PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) are jointly expanding the reach of financial literacy. Now the program has reached the Indonesian diaspora abroad, Sunday (25/2/24).

In connection with this program, BNI and OJK held an event entitled “Financial Planning Education for Hong Kong’s Diaspora” which was held on Sunday, February 25 2024. This event targets various segments of the diaspora in Hong Kong.

Present at the event were OJK’s Chief Executive of Financial Services Business Conduct, Education and Consumer Protection, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, Customs and Excise Consul Ristola Nainggolan; General Manager Investor & Finance Education Council Dora Li; and BNI Network & Services Director Ronny Venir.

Also present were Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI), Indonesian students and diaspora entrepreneurs in Hong Kong offline and online.

Friderica, who is familiarly called Kiki, said that OJK received many case reports regarding investment fraud and illegal online loans experienced by the public. Unfortunately, the same method also affects PMIs and the Indonesian diaspora abroad.

“Therefore, OJK and BNI are working together to consistently provide financial planning education for the Indonesian diaspora abroad, including PMI in Hong Kong. “This program is clear evidence of how BNI implements Financial Literacy and Consumer Protection functions for its customers abroad,” said Kiki.

Meanwhile, Ronny Venir said, BNI is a state-owned bank with a Go Global mandate which is committed to contributing maximally to the Indonesian diaspora throughout the world.

“The Diaspora, including PMI, has made an extraordinary contribution to state revenues through remittances which in turn has helped increase the country’s foreign exchange. “Of course, as a bank that has networks in various countries, BNI has a responsibility to ensure that the diaspora is educated about good financial and investment management,” said Ronny.

KUR & BNI Simponi

Ronny added, BNI provides People’s Business Credit (KUR) for PMI families in Indonesia to avoid detrimental illegal online loans. BNI KUR can be distributed to PMI families who have businesses in Indonesia so that they can develop their businesses.

“Today BNI symbolically handed over KUR to Mrs. Pariati who is also BNI’s Digital Ambassador in Hong Kong. Thanks to her hard work for 20 years, Mrs. Pariati and her family have owned a gas base and boarding house business in Blitar, East Java. “Hopefully KUR BNI can further advance Mrs. Pariati and her family’s business, especially when she returns to Indonesia,” said Ronny.

Meanwhile, as a trusted investment solution, BNI consistently promotes BNI Simponi among PMI Hong Kong. Now, BNI Simponi can be accessed from anywhere and at any time via the BNI Mobile Banking application.

“Hopefully in the future no more PMI and Indonesian diaspora will be caught in financial cases. “Thank you for the trust of Mrs. Kiki and OJK who always invite BNI as a partner in conveying the message of financial literacy and consumer protection throughout Indonesia and even abroad,” said Ronny.
